THE ONES YOU SEE AND THE ONES YOU DON'T
(2006) resin, foam, brass tubes, plaster, acrylic, birch, mdf

The sphere is embedded with the inverted image of David Bowie. His face was caste from a copy mold of a Bowie plaster life mask.

The irises of both eyes in the sculpture are tubes that transect the interior of the sphere - opening out on the opposite side. Prior to each presentation, green acrylic paint is poured into the right eye and blue into the left; each eye pour corresponding to David Bowie’s famously mismatched Iris coloration. The paint that is poured into the eyes spills out the back openings onto the wood leaving a permanent stain.
